Week 20

I'm happy, I'm doing good! Still working on patience. I didn't know I was so impatient.. geez! Like.. I get annoyed and the littlest things! And they are usually things that this person can't control! I need to settle down... OH this week we met with a recent convert and she had a lot of deep doctrine questions..... oh. my. word... I can't answer these questions!! I have these questions myself! I almost started crying during the lesson because I felt so overwhelmed and felt like I need to answer all these questions! Deep doctrine is sometimes fun... but... usually NOT because they are too deep for our human mind to even understand!!! Luckily Sister Gardner knows a little deep doctrine. Poor thing tries to answer my questions everyday ha ha I ALWAYS have questions. It all comes down to faith and trust in the Lord, and knowing that we are dumb humans and we can't even fathom Gods eternal plan. RIGHT NOW, we will someday. Isaiah 55:8-9

Walking and my skirt does NOT like to stay down... this picture doesn't really depict it... but ha ha but out skirts always go all weird when we are walking. That is a new skirt by the way! Do you like it?? I like it. Sister Hobbs got it for me at the anti-Mormon thrift shop =)

This week went by really fast! Sister Gardner and I have been working on teaching more simply and cutting our lesson time down. On Wednesday we taught the restoration in 20 minutes! As we left the appointment we talked about the lesson and about how she understood it. She understood the simple truth we taught and she was able to feel the spirit, especially during the first vision! I was so happy and amazed that all of that could happen in just a 20 minutes! I've never taught the restoration to an investigator in 20 minutes!

We ate here the other day, I got rib tips... they kind of freaked me out.. but I ate them.

This week we taught a recent convert named _____ from the singles ward who is struggling with faith. We invited _______who is preparing to go on a mission. We met them in the Yucca Valley Park and taught him about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After the lesson we had to run off to another lesson, but as we were leaving we heard a man (who was under the same pavilion we taught Dillon under) he said, "Hey what were you talking about with those girls?" After about an hour we got a text that from____ it said "Hey we talked to that guy about the gospel! He is interested! We set up an appointment with him next Friday at 2:30, can you come?" WHAT!?!? Who does that!?!? They are so cool... _____. The young people here are so strong!! I can't even believe it! They live in a totally different world than I did growing up!  I think this is exactly what____ needs to strengthen his faith!

The beautiful sun sets in Yucca Valley =)

We met a guy named Vic while walking; we introduced him to the Book of Mormon and asked if we could come teach him. He said yes!!! We met with him on Friday and brought Betty (just got baptized) along, we taught him about the restoration and Betty was such a great member present! She related to him a lot and told him she could pick him up for church next week. He didn't come this week, but next week he's coming! He is sincerely seeking so I am so excited for him to receive his answers. I know he will! He has been reading the Book of Mormon, and the pamphlets we give him so I know that he will be able to feel the spirit and recognize the truth.
Also! Another cool miracle, we had 30 minutes till we had to meet with a member for a lesson so we decided to park and walk around her neighborhood. We ran into an older guy named Richard, we talked for a minute and he told us he wasn't interested and that he wasn't religious. Then we asked him for referrals and he told us about this lady then he goes on to say "You know I watch the BYU channel, I have been thinking I want to learn about the Mormons.” We looked at each other confused...  and said "we are Mormons!" "oh you are!? wow.. how lucky am I! I thought you were Jehovah witnesses, funny that you caught me out here I haven't been on a walk for weeks! I’ll be to church on Sunday!" it was really cool! he didn't come to church though...But... we will track him down this week!

Japanize Book of Mormon =) CRAZY lookin!

One more story sorry! Just so many miracles this week! Sister Spurrier told us about his guy that she has seen over the past two years as she has been at her daughters elementary. His son is the same age as her daughter and she thought maybe he would be interested.. She told us what street he lives on, but she didn't know what house. We went to the street and we just knew what house was his, I had a feeling and as we got closer there were more hints that YUP that was his house. We knocked and no one was home. We went back the next day and his wife answers, and she told us she was sick but that she would like us to come back! So we told her we would come back on Sunday. We did and we taught her about the plan of salvation and the atonement of Jesus Christ! She is Pilipino and She knows several Pilipino members! And one white member.. haha. Sister Gardner and I kind of struggled to teach but it didn't matter! She totally felt the spirit! I know that I am a vessel for God, sometimes I'm not a very good vessel and my words come out kind of dumb, but I know God is preparing people to hear simple truths. I am so excited to teach next!

Sister Mickelson and her two Davis's =) it was so good to see ALL of the missionaries! All 222 of us! it was such an amazing conference! ha ha funny story.. one of the members from our ward got called to be 2nd councilor to our mission president.. he was there and he was speaking and talking about conversion and he used Betty as some kind of example.. and he says  " Sister Davis how do you know when your investigator is feeling the spirit?" LUCKILY there are like 4 other Davis's in the mission and one of them is sitting right in front of me so he is looking at me... but she thought he was talking to her so she stood up and answered the question ha ha ha ha ha I was really glad thou cuz I was caught off guard and would have made a fool of myself in front of EVERYONE.

On Saturday we met as a mission in Highland, all 222 of us! And a bunch of stake presidents and bishops and other people, and I LOVED it! Talk about spiritual giants! I received the boost and inspiration that I needed! I always do when we gather together in groups of missionaries. Teaching people not lessons really hit meet at that meeting/conference. That night Sister Gardner and I decided that we were going to teach Karen tonight NOT a lesson. Sister Madsen came with us again and we told her the plan and we all tried our best to follow the spirit and taught Karen and what she needed! It was such a spiritual lesson; I felt the spirit so strong so many different times. I feel like we helped Karen increase her faith in Jesus Christ and her Heavenly Father. We talked a lot about receiving revelation through prayer and through reading the Book of Mormon. We think she has a better understanding on why we want her to read the Book of Mormon definitely has more of a desire to read it now.  She wants to be the best person she could be and she wants to follow God and do his will. I KNOW she will get baptized someday =)

On our way to our mission conference!!! we didn't have to drive! YES!!!! it was really nice =)

I know this is the true church! I am wearing my cat shirt and blue pants right now! It feels good to not wear a skirt. Kylee Adams I got your package 2 days ago! Thanks for making me laugh and cry =) I love you all! P.S.... I am working on saying I love you... after each nightly planning sister Gardner and I hug and say I love you ha ha we are doing it to help me not be afraid of saying those words... because I shouldn't! We shouldn't! If you love someone tell them! It’s a lot easier to say it through email and writing I've noticed... I think it’s just my voice.. I don’t know.... ok well have a wonderful week everyone! Tonight we are eating dinner and having a lesson with a member family and they have invited like 4 non-member friends! eeeek! Our lesson better be good!

Love,
Sister Kersey Davis
