I am staying in Yucca again!!! =D
yahoo!!! So is Sister Gardner! AND we are getting a set of Elders in our ward
too =D Obedient ones! One is actually our zone leader. The Onaga Trail ward is
also getting a set of Elders. It’s going to be so nice to have 8 missionaries
in Yucca Valley! We are going to flood this town with the gospel!
Random/funnies
-We went to this house… they let us
in and there were 4 young girls and a lady… the house was like a… safe house…
or something.. like were young ppl who don’t have homes go for a short time..
Something like that! Anyway they were really nice and were talking about their
church called the “upper room church” we were talking about stuff and the older
lady got all excited and told us about “pastor Deloris” next thing I know she
has her on the phone and hads it to me ha ha ha so I am talking to pastor
Deloris from Banning and then she asks what church we are from and I say “I’m a
missionary from the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints” and she goes
quiet ha ha then the lady yells, “ that’s the same as our church right?” Pastor
Deloris says “no…” ha ha then all the ppl in the room say “oh…….” Ha ha then it
got awkward and we hung up. Then we taught them a brief restoration and invited
them to church. They didn’t come but we will go check on them this week =)
-This kid takes random pictures of
me on his iphone… everytime he does it I’m like “uh… I can see you taking a
picture of me… and so can everyone else… what are you doing…?” he’s from a different
country so maybe he just doesn’t know that it’s not civil to do that here ha ha
-sooo we met this woman from Guam
named Velma. She had a brother named Chris and he is Down syndrome and I LOVE
HIM!!! Oh my word… seriously people with handicaps and disabilities are gifts
from God. I truly believe that. I miss my special needs institute class so
much! We had our first lesson with chris and Velma and I sat down and I was
trying to take my coat off and I was struggling a little, ya know getting my long
arms out and Chris helps me take my coat off!!! JUST LIKE BRETT ALWAYS HELPED
ME IN SPECIAL NEEDS INSTITUTE!!! Aw man is was such a happy moment for me =) I
miss Brett.
-We ate dinner at the Pinelas house
this week. They speak little English but! We were so blessed, because hermona
Jones was with us that day! So she was able to talk to them. It was pretty
awkward because we couldn’t communicate but…. Oh and during the lesson/dinner
thought Hermona Jone was interpreting the WHOLE time! IT was so difficult ha ha
I’m sure I sounded pretty dumb but oh well.. I love the Spanish ppl they are so
kind and their hearts are so open to the gospel!
-We had lots of people in sacrament
meeting yesterday! I was so happy!!! I feel like this is my home ward now…
hopefully we can keep it that way! I want to build up this ward so bad, there
are SOOO many less actives we are trying to get everyone to be more united and
friendly. I might not see the fruits of my labors but I know by this time next
year there will be a full chapel!
THis is Brother and Sister Burracchio! She is a convert and
he is a burn victim and they have amazing faith!! I love them!!!! Brother
Burracchio does not look happy in this picture ha ha i promise he is the
kindest man!
Sooo the sister Trainer leader came
out with us this Thursday and Friday. Thursday night I just felt horrible… I
was being really negative… I was thinking “wow.. I am a horrible missionary..
if she was out here there would be so many more baptism.. I don’t even know
what I a doing, I don’t know how to train! I am DONE being a missionary, I’m
not even helping ANYONE” Then I got on my knees and prayed for strength and
told Heavenly Father how I felt.. I felt a little better… then I started being
negative again and I almost fell asleep crying then I decided to pray again…. I
fell asleep and I woke up excited and inspired and ready to get over myself and
go to work! And we had a GREAT day and I LOVED being a missionary! I seriously
don’t know what I would do without my savior and my Heavenly Father. I k now
that he strengthens me through the atonement of Jesus Christ.
We met an amazing woman named
Trisha! We talked to her a little bit. She had lots of questions about the
prophet and the apostles. I had a feeling we should give her a book of mormon
and we did and she was SOO EXCITED to get it! She was like “oh my word! I can
have it!!?! I’ve been wanting one of these!! I always see them in the marriot
hotels but.. I could never steal one ya know” ha ha she is so cute! She had us
sign our names in it. She texted us yesterday and said she has been reading it
and she said she finds it very interesting and she has a lot of questions when
we come back! I love her already!
Is my blog getting boring?? Do I
need to talk about different stuff??
Ha ha funny story… so during
companionship inventory this week sister G and I came to the conclusion that we
would not choose to be friends if we had the choice ha ha we have NOTHING in
common. Nada. we are zero compatible. If we were of the opposite sex there
would be no second date. Anyway we were talking about the strength of our
relationship and that’s what I came up with was that we work good together even
though we have NOTHING in common.
We have had a lot of disappointments
and a lot of people have broken my heart…BUT I will continue to invite others
to come unto Christ! I know I can be better and I will try my hardest to find
those who are prepared! We have been talking to EVERYONE. Literally. The more
people you talk to about the gospel the more people will get baptized!
Sister Gardner made me laugh this
week, so that was good…
Today we prayed with a guy in the
subway parking lot! That was fun.
I usually don’t really care for this
time of the year… but I love it now!! I think it is because I really am focused
on the true meaning of Christmas. I love Jesus Christ and I am so grateful that
I am a part of his restored Gospel. I love feeling the spirit and I love
telling others how the gospel has brought me so much happiness! I love you all
and hope that you will all remember Christ this Christmas. What would he do on
Christmas day?? Go do something that he would do. Ok it’s not even Christmas
yet… but on Christmas day go do something he would do! Go serve! Share the gospel!
Do your visiting teaching! Do your home teaching! It’s not much… but it could
mean the world to someone!
Love,
Sister Kersey Davis
Make it a good day!
