Hello everyone! Yes, there was an earthquake here no I did not feel it... it was a 5.2 apparently.. but we were driving so we didn't feel anything. Dang it! The weather has been pretty nice here, getting really tan! on WEdnesday it was EXTREMELY windy ha ha and we had planned to walk most of the day... I twas pretty miserable but I like a physical challenge so I kind of enjoyed it! I had a dirt mustache and sand all over in my hair and in my eyes! it was fun =)
The women's conference was AMAZING!! wow.. if any of you women didn't watch it, you should go watch it.https://www.lds.org/general-conference/sessions/2014/04?cid=HPTH032714628&lang=eng I felt the spirit so strong. I Loved the videos and the songs they were very powerful! We truly are all daughters of God and are entitled to so much happiness and blessings.. I know that as we help one of his sons or daughters come closer to him he smiles =)
SOOO... I've been here for 9 months.... I have proof that I am getting too comfortable! on Wednesday we had dinner with a less active couple we have been working with for a while and as we were leaving I give the husband a hug!!! And of course I make it all awkward because I am completely in missionary mode... then I turn to the wife and go for a hand shake! what the heck.....
Everyone goofing during gospel doctrine class in the YSA branch and look at Emily =) she is so cool!
We met with Steve twice this week! His life Is changing and it makes me so happy to see the small changes in him. The Book of Mormon has and still is influencing every aspect of his life. I love that book =) We have started a scripture study class every Saturday at 7 o clock and the first one was this week! Steve and Sister Martin came (they are married) they brought their cousin Rick, who is catholic and really sweet kind guy. Betty and brother Perez came too. WE talked about the Book of Mormon and the bible and how they support eachother. Betty and Brother Perez bore testimony and it was AWESOME! We watched the last 20 minutes of "the testiments" movie and it was so powerful, the spirit was so strong in that room! Steve had tears in him eyes. I love this gospel! I do get all nervous and all anxious when teach, I kind of hate it... but when things go great like this one I LOVE IT!
I love this ward so much! How many times have I said that.... ? I always look forward to sundays. This sunday we had two non-members just walk in and sit down! we talked to them and they said they just wanted to check it out, her x husband is a Mormon and had been talking bad about the church so she wanted to come find out for herself! Love those kinds of people! and the talks were PERFECT for them! we got her number and hopefully we will see them this week =) we got to help out with the primary so the teachers could go to the combined class being taught by our awesome bishop Davis. It was so fun!! I love kids! slash... they were going crazy!!! ha ha it was so fun trying to rangle them and sing9ing head shoulders knees and toes and all those fun primary songs =)
We have several potential investigator we will be meeting with this week. One of them being Ruby and her family. Actually I don't know if that will happen because her husband was COMPLETELY rude to me last night... he practically pushed me out of his house last night... I was so but hurt and offended... I don't know why because usually I just brush those kinds of things off... I don't understand how ppl can be so judgmental... and rude to someone just because of their religion! I try to practice what I preach and I'm trying to teach my companion to not get defensive and guarded when people are members of other churches. We should accept all who try their best to follow Christ. That is what God needs, is people who are followers of his son. Even if they don't have the same beliefs as us... we don't need to bash them and tell them everything that is wrong about what they believe. we should express our love and appreciation for them for doing everything that they know to be true. If the spirit isn't there then there is no reason for us to rebuke or testify. That is my opinion...... I hope that God would approve this message..
WEll I love you all =) see you in 8ish months! be strong, valiant, covenant keepers! we need to be prepared, He is coming..... go share the gospel with everyone!
and please drive safely!
Love,
Sister Kersey dAvis
