Week 26

Merry CHRISTmas everyone! Oh man this week went by SOO FAST! I loved it! We spent our Christmas Eve singing carols at an old folks home! OH. My. WORD! it was soooo fun =) I felt the spirit so strong in there! I was SO HAPPY! I loved seeing these ppl with a smile on their face! I strolled around a lady in a wheel chair everywhere we went =) she
was so sweet and she was so appreciative to our singing! Sister Gonzalez and Gardner and Kalke all play the flute so it was really pretty! our dinner was with with Sister Founier and her grandson Kaden. The Elders came with us and played with Kaden the whole time, I was slightly jealous because Kaden usually really likes me ha ha but he paid NO attention to me this night. He had so much fun with the Elders. OH! Melinda one of our investigators also came =) we had dinner and made cookies! Then we went around to her neighbors and sung carols and gave them the cookies we made! After that the missionaries left and we went our separate ways, Sister Gardner and I went around singing Christmas Carols and giving our cookies and notes we wrote to ppl. Later we went over to a Members house and shared "the true spirit of Christmas" Mormon message. There were a bunch of Non members there so we got to know them and answered their questions.

Our District has grown from 6 missionaries to 10! we got together for lunch on Christmas Day and opened all of our packages and stuff =) It was fun. The Elders mad "elf" pasta/noodles. It was full of candy and syrup and cookies and ICK! It was SOOOOOO Gross but it was funny. I had to spit it out.

On Christmas Day I got to Skype my family. It was such a wonderful Christmas present. The first voice I heard was Kent saying "hi Kersey!" I couldn't help myself! my eyes filled with tears. I think it is the best Christmas present I have ever received! We could have talked to hours! it went by way to fast. BUT there were ppl here to be served in Yucca! I have eternities to talk to my family! None the less (I have never used that phrase B4..) it was extremely hard to say goodbye =( I cried like a baby.

at 12 o clock our zone (I lied in the picture... it's our zone..) got together for lunch. It was really fun! I love my zone! I'm going to be sad to leave them...

we ate dinner (at 1 o'clock!) with the Prudholms. Sister Gardner got me a little bottle of A1 sauce for Christmas ha ha I brought in with me to the Prudholms house. It's almost gone now.. The rest of the night we delivered cookies and sung Christmas carols! Sometimes ppl didn't answer their door and we sung to the door... we actually sung to a bunch of doors... but we still made it fun! Sister Gardner and I and the two elders went to a less actives house who didn't have much and who had a very humble Christmas. We visited them and sang carols and played with their dogs and laughed! Oh man it was so fun. I love them! It was the BEST CHRISTMAS! I loved focusing on Christ and serving his children AAALLL DAAAY LOOONG! can I do that for the rest of my life please?

This is what we look like after nightly planning. EXHAUSTED. Always.  Ps... our room is a wreck because of Christmas... pss.. Nightly planning is my LEAST favorite thing to do as a missionary..

BRUCE GETS BAPTIZED THIS WEEK!!! I'm so excited! he has change SOO much. I have been soo blessed to see this transformation in him! I seriously NEVER thought I would see the day he got baptized!

One day sister Gardner and I were walking and a man in a car stopped and said "hi Sisters!" I'm JM (not his real name..) I am a member and I am a truck driving I've lost my BOOk of Mormon do you guys have one on you?? and..... we didn't. Sometimes we are dingbat missionaries.. BUT we got talking to him! he is in our ward boundaries and he hasn't been to church in 3 years! We told him we were speaking in church on sunday and that he should come! Hesitating he said yea I might be able to make it... Sunday come around AND we didn't see him... we walk out into the foyer AND there he is! I gasp! ha ha whoops.. But he is awesome. he came to gospel principles with us and then to the 3 hour meeting =) MIRACLES HAPPEN!

EVERYONE is so sweet and give us food and candy and treats and cookies and more candy and more treats! we are getting obese.

Also... that same day walking we met a lady from Australia in the park! We talked to her and got her number and she said we could come teach her and her family! Miracle number two! THEN we saw a potential investigator we haven't seen in forever! we talked to her.. THEN we saw a lady we did service for! THEN we talked to these 2 young mothers and they were NOT interested and were quite rude... THEN we talked to a guy named Bruce taught him a little bit. ALL in the Park! tons of Miracles. I LOVE talking to people!

OH! Ha ha so there is this think sister Gardner and I do... so at night when we have NOTHING to do. After an appointment falls through and its too dark to walk or to randomly show up at members homes we go to the gas station and act like we are getting gas and we talk to the ppl pumping gas next to us ha ha. So we did this. No success with the young man next to us so we go inside and I buy a Vultage Mt dew... and I really wanted to talk to the Cash register lady.. I finally came up with a starter convo! I started talking to her about the "prison/crazy/criminal magazine that is ALWAYS sitting at the counters.... The conversation lead to the gospel and BOOM! She has been looking for a church and we got her number and plan on seeing her this week!

Oh! we had a surprise mission conference today! Kent Richards from the seventy came and spoke to us. IT was amazing. He taught us to teach simply to listen and to teach by the spirit. I learned a lot and cant wait to apply what I have learned to everyone I see! also to teach my future children =) I loved seeing all the missionaries I once served with! It's so fun getting to see each other for a short time! I've gotta go.......................... I love you all!

This church is NOT on trial. IT IS TRUE.

Love,
Sister Kersey Davis

Week 25: Merry CHRISTmas!

Sunset in Yucca Valley! SOOOOOOOOOO beautiful!

Ok... i'm ticked.. i just wrote my big huge email and.... it disappeared.. so....... ugh.

Here is my new address:
Kersey Davis
7230 Murray Ln.
Yucca Valley CA
92248

ok i really don't want to type this all out again...... what if i do and then i find it!?!? that would be annoying..  this will be short.

The Elders moved into our apartment. We had a 45 minute heads up that we were moving.. we had no idea! now we live in a really nice apartment with all new appliances and everything! I feel so spoiled! (blessed) the water heater is broken so we have been taking FREEZING ICE COLD showers in the mornings ha ha it's funny. I am just grateful we have a shower. Cold or warm.

A less active member yelled at me over the phone a few days ago. Good thing i was in a good mood or i would have started crying! she called me a lier ha ha it was so ridiculous it was funny. Some people are very interesting.

We visited a less active and broke her cigarettes and threw them away! I love her so much, i want her to get to the temple! the story was so much better the first time i typed it up... sorry...

We met a less active family. She is actually ex communicated and her husband is not a member! But they agreed to let us teach them! we are going to get them baptize and too the temple! WE are teaching them tonight =D i'm so excited! I love them so much i don't know how cause i barely know them!

We ate dinner at the Madsens yesterday, they invited a non member family so that was AWESOME member missionary work. We taught them all the restoration after dinner and man it was really intimidating! Brother Madsen is the 2 assistant to our mission pres and their return missionary daughter was there and there was 4 non members! my heart was pounding! But, it was fun. I like teaching about the restoration and book of Mormon =) Nothing HUGE happened like them wanting to get baptized or anything but... hopefully something someday will happen!

I love the Gospel. I LOVE my savior and i am so excited for Christmas! I don't remember the last time i was this excited about christmas. . i have always wanted to serve others on christmas but i have never really done it... because i didn't know how... or who.. (dumb excuse) BUT this christmas sister Gardner and i are making Cookies and writting letters and caroling to all of our investigators, some less actives and other Lonely people! I hope we Will be able to uplift spirits!

My new favorite hair do!! I do this almost erry day.

being a missionary is CRAZY!  To any of you who have or will serve a mission.....
" That blessing has come to each one of you because of your faithfulness in the pre-earth life and in this life. You have shown faith greater than you even know as you defended your Savior in the grand councils in heaven. You were valiant in your testimony there. Now you get to do likewise here. What a great blessing!" -President Van Cott (isn't he cool!!)

I love you all. Thank you for all the support i recieve! I know this is Christ Church. I know that if and only IF we follow his gospel we can recieve eternal life. Our Heavenly father wants all of his children to partake of this good news! Anyone can be a mormon. Everyone is entitled to these blessings. there is a paragraph i really like in the book "true to the faith" it says…

"As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, you can receive blessings that were absent from the
earth for almost 2,000 years. Through the ordinances of baptism and confirmation, you can receive the remission of your sins and enjoy the constant companionship of the Holy
Ghost. You can live the gospel in its fulness and simplicity.
You can gain an understanding of the nature of the Godhead,
the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the purpose of life on earth,
and the reality of life after death. You have the privilege of
being guided by living prophets, who teach God’s will in our
day. Temple ordinances enable you to receive guidance and
peace, prepare for eternal life, be sealed to your family for
eternity, and provide saving ordinances for your deceased
ancestors." (thank you copy and paste)

We have what they need! Don't be afraid to share it.
Have a Merry Christmas! Do something for someone else!

Love,
Sister Kersey Davis

What if your trials in this life are your mercies in disguise?

Week 24

Hi everyone =) this week went by really fast there was a lot of UPS and downs, like always! I am SOOOO Happy and excited to have Elders in our ward. DOUBLE THE WORK! it's gonna be awesome. They can meet with people we can't meet with so it's perfect!

Thank you for all the Christmas Letters =) getting letters from all you Henefer-ites brightens and uplifts me so much! Reading y’alls letters makes me miss you so much and it hurts! But i know that I am where the Lords needs me. I would NOT be on a mission if my Heavenly Father didn't tell me to.... sooo my advice to you all trying to decide about a mission is PRAY. Ask God. Then go out and serve, do things missionaries would do. He will answer your prays. He answered mine =)  I love my Heavenly Father so much and i love his children! I want everyone to have the gospel! I am so grateful for my parents who taught me how to pray and who i should turn to in times of confusion.

Adam. This is Jose and Jessica Valentins dog (the awesome Marines)

So i don't have much to talk about... but...

We met a man named Javier this week. we were walking and there was this Spanish man chopping a BIG tree stump.. naturally.. we go talk to him about the stump ha ha then we start talking to him about the gospel and we tell him that the same gospel that Jesus Christ established has be restored! and he said "Really!?" OH it was the CUTEST response ever! we set up a time to meet with him and his family, on WED. I am so excited! i pray that he will be prepared to receive the restored gospel!

We taught Bruce the word of wisdom this week, ha ha he actually had made tea before the lesson and brought some for sis gardner and I ha ha it was GOOD! it was HERBAL!!! Settle down.. we committed him to keep the word of wisdom and he said that he will dump all his coffee out when he gets home! =D it was progressing so much! I am so excited for him. No we just gotta get his hair cut and beard.. and get him a white shirt and tie!

 It HAILED! It was awesome

This week we were able to meet with 3 less active families we have been trying to contact forEVER! So that was amazing! Our Heavenly Father is softening hearts EVERYDAY. Don't ever give up on less active or inactive family members and friends! Sometimes all they need is a consistent care and love =)

So this week i have been thinking a lot about the final Judgment. There is this quote that i found in the ensign from Dallin H. Oaks "the final Judgment is not just a sum total of good and evil acts- what we have done. It is an acknowledgement of our acts and thoughts-what we have BECOME" we don't just get baptized and STOP, we don't just take the Sacrament and think things are DONE we don't go through the temple and think ALL IS DONE. We do these things so we can CHANGE and become the person God wants us to be. IF we participate in all these principles and ordinances but we don't CHANGE through doing them or applying them then it is all done in VAIN. I love the perfect plan that our Heavenly father has for us =) and i am so happy that i have this opportunity to share his plan with others and to learn more about it!

The Elders car is beautiful... i was jealous, but now they have a truck, we might trade.

I love you all and i hope y’all have a wonderful week!

Love,

Sister Kersey Davis

Make it a great day!

Remember the true meaning of CHRISTmas! Don’t even buy any gifts! Who needs gifts? Go serve someone!

LEXI the cutest dog ever!!!!!
