Week 73

This week has been pretty awesome!! We had SOOO many members come out with us and it was just amazing. The Bishop last week was saying that the members need to come out with us more and that ever night we should have a member with us. i was hesitant... because.. what if it's the "wrong" member and they just offend people and blah blah whatever.. BUT he insisted so we were obedient and even though we (mostly me) didn't agree.. we did it And great things happened =) The members get excited about sharing the gospel when they come out with us.

I live in Mentone! this is a painting that is on the post office =)

While walking down a busy street i started to wave at all the people in the cars (i have become WAY to friendly) i got 11 people to wave back at me in 2 minutes!!! it was awesome and made me so happy! A lot of those people smiled and looked really happy too, i LOVED it.

Little town in the mountains that is in our ward! when we go here i feel like I'm in UTAH!

We ate dinner at the Coons house this week. They have 3 little girls and a 11 year old son. They were talking about their PE teacher and how cool she was. I asked them what made her "cool" and they told me and yahtah yahta.. then I said "guess what guys?" they said WHAT i said" I’m going to be a PE teacher" the 11 year old boy says "oh, cool, so are you like physically fit" hahahahah it was a funny conversation. After dinner i ran out to the car to grab a pamphlet for them and they followed and watched me (they are obsessed with missionaries) and the little girls says "Sister Davis, come here" "you just ran like a PE teacher" ha ha ha ha ha. hm. well i hope that was funny to ya’ll.... it was funny to me.

This is the service project that we did last week =) the one that gathered together more than 20 thousand pounds of food! we sorted all the food in these boxes. there were a lot a non members there, me and my companion talked to two ladies and they asked us a few questions, it was awesome! now they know more about Mormons.

WE got 2 new investigators this week! Yolanda we just met walking down the street. And Lorina we have known for about 1.5 months. We finally got to teach her! She said she is going to have a open heart and that she will read the Book of Mormon. We are teaching her her first full lesson tomorrow. We taught the couple who are on baptism date for Dec 13th the word of wisdom. They don't have any huge addictions so that was awesome! They are excited. Last night they came to a baptism to see what it is like =) they are doing great!

Going on exchanges! learning from each other!

On Saturday night an African American guy was trying to contend with me ha ha. It was funny. he was talking very loudly at me while we were waiting in line to get gas... he was telling us how Joseph smith is a racist and that we are being miss led. Then he followed us outside... he kept talking and i just kept smiling... then i got sick of sitting there, we needed to go so i said just come talk to me while i pump the gas. So he did ha ha and continued to tell me all these horrible things. I said those things aren't true. He talked over me so i just smiled. Then finally i think he got tired so we shook hands and he left. ha ha i love when ppl yell and me and tell me ridiculous things... is that normal???

Sorry if none of this makes sense, I’m not proof reading and my mind is elsewhere.

Wave, smile and say hi! That’s all it takes to brighten somebodies day =)

Love,
Sister Kersey Davis

Week 72

This week i got a new companion. Her name is Sister Boyack, she is from Spanish Fork UT!! She has been out for 11 months. She came straight from Rialto! My first area. I am really enjoying teaching with her. She is very in tune with the spirit and loves to teach! I can tell she loves it because when we teach is the most i hear her talk! She is extremely quiet and shy =) i am a blabber mouth so I’m trying to get used to silence all the time..............

Me and my Best friend Betty! And my hideous bright pink watch.... Betty is getting her endowments this Thursday!!!! I have the blessing of going =D I’m sooooo excited!!! She is also moving to YorbaLinda this week!?!?!? what the world!?!??! she had been in Yucca Valley for 35 years. I guess God has something in store for her in YorbaLinda

We had an awesome lesson last night with Danny and Dina. Dina has been taking the lessons for several months. She has a sister in Texas who is a pretty recent convert to the church. Dina really wanted to start going to church so she was praying and looking around... she talked to her sister and didn't think much of the LDS church... but then one day she sees a restoration pamphlet left on the desk at her job. She takes that as a sign and calls the missionaries. Danny her husband of almost 3 years poked fun at her taking lessons from the Mormons. (South park) and didn’t want anything to do with it!  But then about 4 weeks ago he decides to look into it as well. Now they are both working towards baptism on the 13th of December. Last night was about their 4th lesson together as a couple. We brought members and they totally made the lesson so much better than i would have been just sister Boyack and I. Members are powerful when they bear testimony and show love and true friendship to those who are learning about the gospel. Danny and Dina recently started praying together each night and they have both recognized a difference in their relationship. I'm so happy for them! They are adorable and funny am so grateful i get to teach them! Tomorrow we are teaching the word of wisdom =D

We got transfer information this morning. Sister Kelly is getting transferred to the City Creek ward here in Fontana. I am staying for my last 5 weeks! Eek i'm a little nervous!

This week we did a service project at the family service association center. The city of Redland and Mentone gathered together over 20 thousand pounds of food for families in need!!!! We helped sort all the food.

In Jeremiah 1:5 is say's "before i formed thee in the belly i knew thee" I love this scripture not only does it help us to know where we came from but who we can become and the potential we have. Our Heavenly Father knows us. He knows that we are all learning as we go in this life. Weather we are moving forward or backward.... he LOVES us and knows we are learning. I love to think about the pre earth life and who i was with, what we were doing and what God was telling us we could become. We probably all talked together about all the amazing things we would do and experience as we followed Jesus Christ. I often think about and ask myself and i fulfilling the things i promised God and other in the pre earth life? Am I living my life in a way that those things will be fulfilled? I love this Gospel. I know Jesus Christ is at the head. I know that as we try our hardest to serve in his church and we try our hardest to keep all the commandments that we will achieve true happiness! We will fulfill the things that we were foreordained (sorry big word..) to do and achieve.

My blood is SOOO thin...... I am freezing all the time! It gets to 65 degrees and I am in my coat shivering to death... I’m not going to lie... I’m not looking forward to the UT weather...

I LOVE YOU ALL!!

Love,
Sister Kersey Davis

Fountain on the North side of the temple... Awesome symbolism.

The first and single little water fall is symbolism of Jesus Christ. The 3 water falls under it is the prophet and his 2 counselors, and the 12 around is of course the 12 apostles and the pool is all of us! Eph 2:20

Week 71

I love this video! It give me so much strength. We watched this with a struggling member this week and i asked myself as i was watching... what is the scariest thing i have ever done??
Hugging my sisters my mom and dad and walking away from them at the MTC was one of the scariest things i have ever done in my life. I'm grateful for the courage my savior and Heavenly Father has given me this past 17ish months. God really is there. He isn't just a good comforting idea, he is our father and has a perfect plan for each of us. This plan isn't easy though, many of the experiences we will have her will take courage. Through prayer we can receive strength and direction.

Lilli and Daisy Bankhead from Yucca Valley finally got baptized! They invited me to their Baptism. Betty was kind enough to come pick me up =) I was so happy to see them finally receive the Holy Ghost. It was heart warming seeing brother and Sister Bankhead so happy and proud to see their daughters baptized.

So this week we taught an member who has fallen away. he is a kind guy, doesn't do horrible things, he doesn't break the commandment all the time he has just FORGOTTEN. We talked about prayer and the awesome home teacher asked... "do you pray" the less active member said "no". Through out my mission i have learned that when we fall away it usually come form forgetting. It happens because we stop doing one of the most simple teachings Jesus Christ taught. We stop praying. In the bible dictionary it says " as soon as we learn the true relationship in which we stand toward God( namely, God is our father and we are his children) then at once prayer becomes natural and instinctive on our part. Many of the so called difficulties about prayer arise from forgetting this relationship." Prayer is where it all begins. If you feel like you are slipping away... reevaluate your prayers of if you are even praying. if you are ready to come back and want to be happier start praying again. The spirit will tell you want you need to do next. Enos

Me, Sister Kelly, Sister Gonzalez and sister Brant. Sister Gonzalez and i lived together for 6ish months in Yuccca Valley!!! She is going home this week!! AHH!!

Ok here is a funny-ish story i can tell y’all...This last Sunday sister Kelly and I were in the church and 2 young men probably my age started talking to us. I was absolutely freaking out inside.... haha! Not having natural association with the opposite sex has really taken its toll on me. I quickly ended the conversation and dashed off. Eye contact EEEEK!!! How do you ppl in the real world do it!?!?

I love this gospel! I love Jesus Christ!!!!

Love,
Sister Kersey Davis

We painted pumpkins (this is a late pic...) for Halloween with a potential investigators named Chelsea!

Week 70

I'm not going to lie... I'm getting kind of sick of writing big long emails! ha ha. Good thing i only have 6 more of these right? This week has been pretty great! We had two families that we are working with come the the "trunk or treat". Our preparation and planning paid off because they LOVED it! All of the members we called before the activity went up and talked to them and made them feel so welcome and LOVED! Mia eve said (who we met last week) "that was so much fun, you need to invite us to church sometime!" we are planning on doing that tonight =) we are having our first lesson with them. They are a African-American family of 7!!! They are adorable. I have totally fallen in love with the kids. Me and Mommasita (the 5 year old) had a push up competition within the first 15 minutes we met =D we became best friends!

We dressed up like each other for Halloween!

This week as we were walking I just had this moment were i felt that my Heavenly Father really does know me and love me. I'm so grateful that i am a part of Jesus Christ's church. It has given me priceless knowledge.

Love, Sister Kersey Davis

So True!! This Gospel helps me to follow the perfect example of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel gives me true happiness! I invite you all to be a happy people!

Ten things that supremely happy people do:
1.       Happy people surround themselves with other happy people. Joy is contagious. People are four times more likely to be happy in the future with happy people around them.
2.       Happy people try to be happy. When happy people don’t feel happy, they cultivate a happy thought and smile about it.
3.       Happy people spend money more on others than they spend on themselves. Givers experience what scientists call the “helper’s high.”
4.       Happy people have deep in-person conversations. Sitting down to talk about what makes a person tick is a good practice for feeling good about life.
5.       Happy people use laughter as a medicine. A good old-fashioned chuckle releases lots of good neurotransmitters. A study showed that children on average laugh 300 times a day versus adults who laugh 15 times a day.
6.       Happy people use the power of music. Researchers found that music can match the anxiety-reducing effects of massage therapy.
7.       Happy people exercise and eat a healthful diet. Eating a poor diet can contribute to depression.
8.       Happy people take the time to unplug and go outside. Uninterrupted screen time brings on depression and anxiety.
9.       Happy people get enough sleep. When people run low on sleep, they are prone to feel a lack of clarity, bad moods, and poor judgment.
10.   Happy people are spiritual.
