Week 52

WOW this week went by so fast! Ok i swear i say that ever week.... We have a new record on cancelled lessons thought! We are up to 16 cancelled lessons this week. YA! it's ok though, Sister Buswell and I have faith and we are learning patience.

After dinner. Oh man i love my sleep…..

I am now in a trio, Sister Akagi went home so now sister Young is with us for a week or so before transfers. It has been great!

I got chased by a Chihuahua last monday. he was wearing the cone of shame and barking his lungs out at us! he wouldn't let me pet him so we start walking away and he starts chasing me and trying to bite me! so i start running and accidentally kick him in the face... .then he chased me off his humans property... haha i felt embarrassed

I also ran a red light this week... WHOOPS!

Big BUGS! Japaneses beatles are blind and they scare me to death all the time!

We had a GREAT lesson with a less active family this week. We talked about family prayer and committed them to pray together as a family daily. The active family we brought with us did an awesome job at fellow shipping them! Both the kids asked the less active kids for their numbers without us even telling them to do so! The spirit was so strong as we promised blessings would come to them as they did this.

dangerous trees! what the????

we had another experience last night where... we were all feeling like we should go visit this less active couple... when we showed up their friends who are investigating the church were there. They speak NO English...The husband went to church for the first time today... we asked him how he felt (translating going on here) he said he felt peaceful and happy a new feeling. I asked him if he knew what that feeling was and he said "no". We continued to teach him about the spirit and that what he is doing is what God wants him to do. The spirit filled the room, Even though we don't speak the same language i could feel Gods love for them and i could feel the spirit as they spoke of their experiences. we were all bawling by the end! it was an amazing teaching experience.

There are cockroaches in our apt. we found one in our bathroom... and i've become a big baby and i don't like to smash big bugs... so we decide to put a cup over him... ha ha we just figure he will die... 2 weeks later... i get sick of seeing the cup... we decide to kill him. ... and this is how we did it.

Check out that tan line! Wow...

2 Nephi 31:20 read it. God has commanded us to feast on the word of God. if you struggle reading and understanding the scriptures... then read other scripture. Read the ensign, read teachings of modern day prophets, watch and ponder Mormon messages. I promise you that God will bless you as you do this. The spirit will be with you more and you will be able to recognize where you should go and what you should do in this life.

Love,
Sister Kersey Davis

See you in 5 months 2 weeks and 2 days. what the heck!?!?it's going by way too fast…

Week 51

Zeke from Paraguay, he is the sweetest =) he always runs up and hugs me and smiles so BIG! he told me my hair was pretty yesterday at church =) he makes me feel loved!

This week Sister Buswell and I have been working really hard on trying to find people who want to learn about the gospel. We had 15 appointments fall through... BUT we continued with faith =) TONS of little miracles have been happening. We have been trying to focus on the tender Mercies God has granted us everyday.

We were in the park making phone calls and.......
I lay my arm in some bird poop ha ha. yum.

This week we had interviews with our mission president. Usually in interviews i never bring up concerns or anything, i try to figure those out myself if i can because i know how busy he is and how many complaints and stupid stuff from baby missionaries he gets... BUT i just had to tell him that i was getting "trunky" to see what advice he would give me... surprisingly he said "I could care less about missionary work, what i care about is who are you becoming, who you will be 10 years from now, what your family will be like, i want you to be thinking about how you will continue to be valiant after your mission and how you will continue to be a missionary throughout your whole life"  WOW... i was like, Ok, got it. My mission is like the MTC for the rest of my life. I am here preparing for the rest of my life and i'm helping others along the way.

Ok i know my face looks way stupid in this picture...... please ignore that....
but look how small these toilets are!!! ha ha they are fun!

I will tell you all of one of the miracles that happened this week. Sister Buswell and I had planned to go See this woman named Josey who lives by the church. As we were driving we felt like we should park clear down the street from where she lived.... as we were walking we see this house being painted by a Hispanic couple. we say "HI WE ARE YOUR NEW MISSIONARIES!" (we say that to everyone =) hehehhe) the woman rushes over and says hello and is really friendly to us! we find out that they are from Anaheim and that her sister is actually meeting with the mormon missionaries =D we tell her about what we do and introduce her to the Book of Mormon. She was excited to read it! we gave her our number and hoped for the best =)
we continued walking and Josey wasn't home.... So we walk back to our car and on the way back we run into this young lady with a huge dog, we start talking to her and ask her if she would like to learn more about the church and she says "YES"! we are meeting with her tomorrow morning and i am so excited! God placed them in our paths because we followed a prompting. We wouldn't have EVER met either of them if we would have ignored it.

I love this Gospel and i will NEVER leave it =) Christ is my strength!

Love,
Sister Kersey Davis

This is looking out of my apartment door/deck thingy. Yup, this is where i live!
Our neighbors are Indian, Tongan, hispanic and african american!
And we are the white girls from Utah ha ha

The California "mountains" in the mornings we usually wake up to TONS of smog in the air.

I. am. Dying.

Week 50

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!! I will start out by saying that my fathers day started out kind of rough just because everyone is talking about their fathers and walking around everyone is with their family having fun... i was thinking "Great... this is going to be a bummer day" WRONG! it was so wonderful. We got invited to have dinner at the Diaz home, we ate dinner and after he asks us to bare our testimonies... i was thinking... "ok this is weird..." so sister Buswell and i bare our testimonies and the spirit was really strong, I said " ok, now we want to hear your testimonies" and the spirit continued to immerse the room. I'm so happy that we did that, it was definitely the strongest I have felt the spirit here in Fontana thus far.

Happy Father's Day!!!! I love my father with all my heart. =) I'm so grateful I have an earthly father who strives to be like Heavenly Father. (Left to Right: Kersey, Jack, Kirby)

Before dinner we had an appointment to teach a family we met last week. We show up and they weren't home....... BUT sister Buswell and i make sure that we plan back ups and back ups and more back ups... so that God can prepare the hearts of the people we will see that day. So after 2 appointments fall through we go to our back up "Billy and his wife Kathy" just a little back ground, we met them 2 weeks ago and just talked in their garage. Talked  about faith and gave them our number. We found out Kathy's sister is a member! Last week we made a "family home evening" flyer so we go over to Billy and Kathys and knock and they answer! They were happy to see us!!!! We have casual convo and then we give them a flyer, they acted excited and interested. They say " hey my sister (the member) is coming over tonight, you guys should come!" soooooooo after dinner and seeing a few other ppl we stop by and they invite us into their home and we have dinner (our second dinner......=/.....) with them! I know that God is preparing Billy and Kathy for the restored gospel. Even when things don't go our way we need to have trust and faith in Gods plan. He has a more marvelous plan then we can even imagine. I know this to be true because i have experienced it first hand MANY times in my mission and in my life.

Sister Young and I have been out for 1 year?!?!?!?!?! WOW... It's gone by so fast!

I've seen so many miracles this week and not because God has been giving me more, but because he has opened my eyes to seeing the small miracles that happen each day. Sometimes i get caught up in the BIG miracles... and I forget the beautiful tender mercies that God gives me each and everyday.

I got a package this week from Denise Anderson Family =) Thank you so much for all the support and English food! It was a great suprise to come home to.

Something I learned this week is that I need to bear testimony more as I teach and meet people. I need to share how the gospel has blessed my life and how it has helped me to obtain true happiness. Yup. I know this gospel is true, it's the only thing that has given me hope and the strengths to continue on in this life. I wouldn't be here on my mission if it wasn't for Christ. I would have gone home. I know he is my savior and that I can be strengthened through him.

Love,
Sister Kersey Davis

Week 49

Whoops i just walked into the mens restroom............. Eek.. Why do I always do that!?!? Also... we are in the kids library area so the toilet I used was about 1 foot of the ground ha ha it was a little weird! Anyway! This week went by really fast! We have an amazing ward, I'm so excited to start working with the people here they are all into missionary work.

Betty and Debbie Martin from Yucca Valley sent me this in the mail (inside joke). I miss them and love them! I can't wait to go through the temple with Betty in November and see Steve get baptized!

funnies:

Being here has made miss music so much, EVERYONE is always BOOMING rap. I now have the desire to listen to Christian rap.

Every time we see this African American guy we met when we first got here he refers to us as the "lattah day saint gang" ha ha it's awesome.

This is what Fontana looks like! It's WAY NICE! and REALLY hot... I am melting all the time.

A skunk almost sprayed sister Buswell and I while we were doing our morning running! we were SO close! Eeeek

Wow.This week I have realized I am a full blown awkward sister missionary.  we walk into a members home. A son (my age) and the mom who LEFT us sitting there with her son! He was asking us questions and being all nice...I felt soooooo awkward..... eye contact was a killer ha ha ha wow... I abandoned shipped out of there after like 6 minutes of this awkwardness. My comp said she didn't feel uncomfortable at all ha ha obviously I haven't talked casually conversation with someone the opposite sex for a year....

Diana Persinger and her husband (back in Yucca Valley) gave me some Mace =) So everyone stay clear of me, I'm scary! Ha ha

So far we have no progressing investigators, but I have faith and hope that as sister Buswell and I are obedient and we continue to talk to absolutely EVERYONE we will be blessed. I know there are people here who are searching for truth.

I love the Book of Mormon. This totally hit me this week, I never want to go a day without reading it! even the confusing/boring war chapters, I'll read those too! Every time I read the Book of Mormon I feel peace. It's the best book ever! ps.. i gave my first spanish Book of Mormon out this week =)

ENDURE TO THE END!! Be a best friend and tell the truth!  I love yoU!

Love,

Sister Kersey Davis

Week 48

Hi everyone! I’m loving Fontana, it is ALWAYS a party! I swear… everyone is always playing music and dancing and having fun! I actually had a tiny little thought “maybe I could live here someday…..” it is really nice, a lot different than Yucca valley! There is tons of grass and really nice houses. There are TONS of young families which I LOVE and lots of different ethnicities, mostly blacks and Hispanics!

Our apartment was once lived in by Elders................. ew. ew. ew. they didn't clean it at all!

One of the first days we were there we went to a members party they are all polynisian and WOW do they know how to party! the music WAS booming we parked all the way down the street and you could still hear it and feel it. I want to be a poly... they are so much fun... us white folk are boring...

My new ride!!! LOVE LOVE IT!
