Week 17

Sister Gardner and I are staying here in YUCCA!! thank goodness.....

We got to hear from Elder Walker from the seventy. He was really cool! I got to see mostly everyone that i served with from Rialto! including sister Mucke =) and Elder Sieright in the back ground haha. It was sooo good to see everyone there!

Soooo this week... another difficult week that ended in miracles! president Walker from the seventy was doing a mission tour so we had a little conference thing with him and we shook his hand and stuff and... he trained us and he was really cool and funny! i LOVE when people can be spiritual and funny!! LOVE LOVE LOVE. he was talking about return missionaries and he said something like " i hear about missionaries coming home from there mission and they stop going to church, well, that is just the DUMBEST thing i have ever heard!!" ha ha ha! and his face was the best. so yea that was cool, learning from him. . . president Van Cott spoke too. and Sister Van Cott and Sister walker.

The sky in yucca Valley! it's always really pretty =)

this week we had only like 7 cancelled lessons!!! GRRRR i get so mad/sad when people cancel! but... as i looked at the cancelled appointments i recognized that MOST of them were legit reasons... so i think God is just trying to help me to gain more patience.... ha ha BUT on Friday we Finally met this couple we have been trying to meet with and they have cancelled twice and we taught them the restoration and they accepted the invitation to be baptized!!! =D they are going to be baptized on Nov 30th =) we gave the husband the book of Mormon a week and a half ago.. he has read all the way to 2 Nephi 18!! how cool =) she is really looking for happiness and peace in her life so she is really excited! she is sincerely seeking!

I got my hair cut this morning! it was fun. it is supposed to be an A line... but.........

it doesn't look very A-liney... =( OH WELL!

i lost my planner and my scriptures in a 2 days span.......... =/ yeah sometimes i am a horrible missionary!!  BUT no worries i found my scriptures! i left them at a less actives house... and my planner is still missing... i am so sad! it had so many numbers and addresses and stuff! oh welll... not the end of the world.. luckily we are starting a new transfer this week so i get a new planner.

These are a bunch of the ladies in the Yucca mesa ward! I LOVE them so much! oh my word... they are so cool..... starting from the left.. Jackie (she is a non member, her son who she lives with is a member) we had lunch this day and we talked about Joseph smith and the Book of Mormon and we were all baring our testimonies and all of us were almost crying! we told her to go home and to ask her son for his BOM and read Moroni 10;3-5 ;) she will be baptized I KNOW IT! I love her! it's weird.. i barely know her... but i was like holding her had when i was talking to her!! ha ha! I don't do that! that is not me! i don't hold womens hands.... ha ha. anyway.. next is Victoria Hobbs!!!! she is amazing! the lady from Uraguay. We love to teach with her. she has SUCH a strong testimony. next is Shirley Cooper (isn't her shirt rad) next Kay Finster (the short one) she has been a member for about 15 years and she is a PRO at family history, and LOVES the gospel so much, She loves talking about eternal families. She is so sweet, Everytime i hug her i have to squat down ha ha she reminds me of Melenie moore! then above her is Nona pace, oh man she is awesome too! Strong testimony and so knowledgable in the gospel! and last is my amazing comp sister Gardner =)  i hope i'm a cool old lady someday.

We taught Betty the law of chastity this week ha ha it was fun. She is very open about EVERYTHING ha ha ha... she reminds me of me sometimes... ha ha ha. She is so sweet and she is so excited to get baptized! NOV 9th!

This is Betty, She is getting baptized on the 9th! she is SOOOOO AMAZING. LOOK, she actually does what the paphlets tell her to do! she calls it her "homework'. She goes home and reads and studies everything! She is so funny too =D

This is aloha. She is a bulldog, isn't she soooo cute!! kenzy bulldogs are actually not as hideous as you think! Let jose get one =)

ok... so the past 10-ish weeks i've been thinking to myself..."i'm kind of a good singer, i'm pretty good!' 'wow.... i have a pretty good voice' ok FALSE!!!! soo at the Elder Walker conference thing we sung 'called to serve" and i recorded it and.......... i listened to it after and my voice was blasting through the speaker and i am DEFINETLY NOT A GOOD SINGER, ha ha ha ha i was so dumb founded.... all these weeks i was proud of my improved singing voice and.. yeah. i'm tone deaf. oh well i still sing loud!

WE all did wings and put on lip stick one day, that was fun. i think the mission is making me more into a lady...because i do my hair and makeup everyday now! and i enjoy it, and i now LOVE lipgloss!!! or maybe i'm just going through a phase..... Thank you sister Mickelson for teaching me that i need to attempt to be attractive EVERYDAY and for introducing me to lip gloss!
this transfer our District leaders called us this morning and just told us what was happening at transfers. Sister Davidson is leaving... =( I reall like her.... she is on the left. Sister Gonzolaz is staying and Sister Gardner and I are both staying! YAY! and both elder plaster and hala are leaving twenty nine.. =( looks like I will be here for the winter!! AH! it's getting cold! SOOO WINDY! my hair gets WHIPPED EVERYWHERE!

Ok... i think i have mentioned this before but i miss back scratches and rubs SO MUCH.... oh my word... anyway.. so we went to dinner with all of those older ladies and we got there and dinner wasn't ready so we were sitting there and sister Hobbs offered to give me a back scratch!!! i was like " HALLLA LUUYAAa!!!!" oh my word...it felt SO GOOD!!! it was like a 20 minute back scratch too =) oh man... it was heaven..

ha ha this was the hand out for the onaga trails ward! ha ha i thought it was really funny, so i took a picture of it... HAHAHAhahah... random

ok well that's kinda what has happened this week.. sorry not very much spiritual-ness coming from my email this week... but this gospel is true! sooooo true.

Love,

Sister Kersey Davis

This rock reminded me of Jake and Kirby so i creepily ran back up to the door step to take a photo of it. Hehe

P.S. To ya'll going to college and trying to figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life:

"You can either be happy all the days and unhappy on payday or you can be miserable all the days and be happy just on payday."

Make decisions prayerfully. =) God knows best. James 1:5: If any of y'all lack wisdom, ask God and he will tell you  straight up! But... Only if you are willing to do his will.

Week 16

My RAD shirt from Kirby =) Love it! So cute!

Hello everyone reading this.............  this week was difficult as usual... things just weren't...... happening.. ok... so sister Gardner and I worked really hard in weekly planning and nightly planning to have appointments and we had a lot of our week filled by Tuesday so we were way excited. We had a lot of exciting lessons/appointments but...... people have their agency and cancel appointments.... we had 14 canceled appointments this week!!! WHAT!?!? that must be a record! AND we had 3 people tell us that they didn't want to learn anymore... so they "dropped" us... BUT it all paid off on Saturday night.... =D =D =D =D we had a member tell us that they had a friend they wanted us to teach the first lesson to.. sooo we go to their house and chat with their friend for about 30 minutes.. because dinner wasn't ready. during the closing of dinner i thinking "uh... does she know we are going to teach her..." Brother Tremmal say "ok, BK you and the sister go in the living room and they will have a little discussion with you" and she acted all excited so we were like "ok ok yeah!" so we taught her the Restoration and the spirit was sooooooo strong!! My heart was beating really hard and I was sweating ha ha.. she was almost in tears. We invited her to be baptized and she accepted! oh man... it was so amazing.. the feeling was soooooooooo GOOD! I would have 14 cancelled appointments just to meet an amazingly prepared woman like that any day!!! she is sooo cool. She has a dog who she takes to hospitals for people to pet him =) and she crawled under a trailer to save 7 kittens before our dinner appointment AND she couldn't come to church the next day because she she was going to a birthday party for little kids and she dressed up like a clown ha ha SHES AWESOME! i love her already =)

This is our desk... Maybe we should organize it huh?

ok so there is this really good talk in the ensign from this month it's Called "Christ Healed the Sick". It's on page 17... GO READ IT! it talks about a young woman who turns her life around after asking for a priesthood blessing from her dad. Our Heavenly Father Loves EVERY SINGLE one of us. He KNEW that we would mess up, he knew that we would all sin. That is why he provided us a Savior. Our brother Jesus Christ died for our sins! He has felt every single sorrow and pain we have ever felt. Through him we can be cleansed and made whole if we recognize him as our savior and redeemer. It's never too late. He wants us all to be made whole and happy through the atonement.

This is the phone we use. I took this picture of Sister Davidson last p-day. Hahahaha

Ok funny/horrible moment of the week... looking back on it.. it is pretty funny.. actually it still kind of makes me mad inside.. ok so we got a media referral so we went to the house and her husband answers and says she isn't back from Texas... so we talk to Ernie for a while... he was extremely rude... he was telling us about what he believes and then i was like "Can i tell you what we believe?" he said yes... so i tell him and i am baring my testimony and....... HE STARTS LAUGHING..... WOW I have never had any one laugh at my testimony! so... that kind of hurt! and made me a little angry... i say.."Ernie when you were telling me what you believe I thought it was pretty bizarre, but i didn't laugh at you" (I was starting to tear up with anger/hurt-ness) he says "well you should have" then he starts going off and I couldn't even look at him! I turned around and there was a dog so i started petting him... I almost grabbed sister Gardner and left but.......... I prayed for patience and to be Christ-like.. ha ha i was SOOO MAD... I pet the dog for about 5 minutes.. then turned back to him. he said some more hypocritical and rude things then we left telling him that if he ever needed anything to give us a call =) HA HA oh man.......... nice guy. Love him... I will teach him in the spirit world.

These are my knees after we pray on our prayer rugs =)

We met a 96 year old woman named Pearl. She is soooooooo AMAZING! she had a little  trampoline sitting there and i said " I bet you jump on that every morning huh!?!" you know..just joking around.. and she said "yes actually, every morning.. you see that wire above it, I hold on to that and jump!" WHAT!! HA HA THAT Is so awesome. she also rides on this little bike thing too, and does weights every morning! man she is so cute! i love old people! she wasn't interested in the gospel... but it's ok i will get her in the spirit world too!

Sister Gardner made me blue berry muffins for my birthday! =D

They have this thing called "art tour". All the artists in yucca and 29 Palms have their art all over their house and people come in and look around and buy stuff if they want. And we have 2 amazing women in our ward named Nicole Vikdal and Susan Madsen. They are also artists and their work is sooooooooooooooo rad! Check their stuff out. They have Facebook pages and stuff.

This is a cake we got from one of our investigators! It's amazing! Yum!

So we met this guy named Jay, we think he was drunk or high... but we gave him our number... and..... i guess he thought i was hitting on him cause he called on Sunday and told us that he came to church and people told him to leave... "he must have been intoxicated..." but.. he ask me if i was married.. I said no.. then he asked in his slurring voice "Davis..how about sometime we go to lunch?" I say.. Uh.............. well as missionaries we teach people...blah blah then he laughed and said ok well lets go to lunch then go to church blah blah ha ha it was funny slash sad.. he needs the gospel... hopefully he comes next week. Sober.
Ok I've gotta go! i love y'all! Thank you so much for all the Happy birthdays =) I'm 22... what the....

These are my new pants my mom sent me.

Mom... We can't eat coffee candy... Ha ha ha

Love,

 Sister Kersey Davis

Week 15

This week has been crazy and wonderful! We have seen tons of miracles this week!

The Constantinos gave us fans hehe they are such a sweet philipino family! it's Allen our ward mission leader (YSA) family. They are coming to conference in Utah in like April and they said they want to visit you!!!!!!!!!! OH. My. GOsh. Yall better meet up with them, they are amazing.

Miracle #1: We had a lesson with one of our investigators and we wanted to have a member present. We picked Sister Carter, She is a 20 year old convert, she is amazing and has such a strong testimony so we thought she would be great for our lady investigator. We were running late and it was dark (it gets dark here at 6:30!!!) we had to drive ALLL the way to Joshua tree to pick up sister Carter then we would have to drive ALL the way back to Yucca to our investigators house then take sis carter ALL the way back to JT and we were both like... "what were we thinking... this was a bad idea..." THEN we got to the investigators house and she had a huge gash on her head and blood all over her dress and knees... and yea.... she was stumbling around and could barely speak.. Sister Carter is a EMT so she asked her some questions and... she had overdosed so we called 911.. i was scared ha ha i have never experience something like this! She hid her pills and I helped her get dressed and... they took her away.. and that is the second time she had been like that when we have gone over there so we have decided we are going to try to get her into the addiction recovery program before we start teaching her again. It breaks my heart, but i know our Heavenly Father Loves her and so do I. Oh gosh.. i'm tearing up right now. I want her to be happy so bad... I hope she can recover from this addiction. I know that our Heavenly Father Needed Sister Carter to be there that night because Sister Gardner and I were like a deer in the headlights.. I am so grateful for the spirit and that Sister Carter followed the prompting of the spirit. She told us she texted us saying she couldn't come anymore but she had a feeling she needed to go.

I am obbsessed with my light blue fan =D

Miracle #2:  Ok so it was Saturday night and we had a lesson set up with a member family and they invited one of their non member friends. We were sooo excited! We got a text saying that their friend couldn’t make it… bummer. We told them we would still love to teach their family and they accepted. Then 40 minutes before they said they needed to cancel. So we went to our back up and it was already dark pitch dark (by 7 o clock!!! Crazy..) and our GPS lead us to a crazy place we were like driving through somones yard! and we could NOT find the house. We were both frustrated. I think I show my frustration more that Sister Gardner does ha ha. I had the thought to pray, but I was too prideful to mention it. After a few minutes of trying to figure out if we should go home and plan for our lesson for tomorrow or visit the 2 ppl we had planned for 8 o clock Sister Gardner said “we should pray”. We did and we both felt like we should stay out. Sister Gardner said “ I feel like there is someone out there”. We visited a close by potential investigator and invited him to church. He said no, then we visited his neighbors (his brother and his wife they are Recent converts) they sent their son out to tell us they were asleep.... get real. YOU ARE NOT ASLEEP! then I scratched up my shin! Then we started driving home. Sister Gardner called a member and she sat their and yelled at us and complained for like 15 mins. I was feeling worthless and almost to tears. I decided to stop by at a formal investigators house that Sister Mickelson and I, last transfer tried numerous of times and no one has ever answered. Seriously sis Mickelson and I have tried this house like 7 times! We knocked… No one answered… we rang the door bell… and…. SHE ANSWERED!!! I WAS SO HAPPY to finally meet her! We talked to her for a little bit and set up a time to come see her! I am so grateful for a wonderful companion and for my other companion the Holy Ghost. This really is the Lords work. I am BEYOND excited to meet with her on Saturday

This is where we went to fly kites last p-day! It is in the dessert of 29 palms. It was really fun! It made me miss flying kites in our field behind the house..... my kite flew out of my hands and i had to chase it down ha ha it was kinda funny

Miracle #3 Yesterday 5 members told us they have friends that they want us to teach!!!!!!!! =D we are meeting with 2 of them this week =) the members are really receiving opportunities to share the gospel! I am so grateful for their courage and examples. I KNOW they will be blessed in their efforts to share the gospel. They will receive happiness in this life and the next!

This is the Hindi Book of Mormon we got for our muslim, Indian from Fiji =) she is so sweet but.........I think she is more interested in us than the gospel... we had to tell her our purpose as missionaries and awkward stuff like that. . . but she made us Indian food and gave us fijji sauce stuff. She likes when we sing to her! Hopefully we can get her to come to the primary program on the 27th! she loves kids. She is totally a MORMON! Craziest Language EVER! she even agrees! I don't know how anyone can read this language!

Miracle #4: KEN TEXTED US BACK!!! ha ha ok you probably don't even know who he is but we have been trying to contact him for the past 3 weeks... after we didn't show up to have them follow us to church he wouldn't answer his door or phone... I finally left him a note i probably shouldn't have left.............. it said something like.. if you don't' want us to come over anymore just tell us!! and we will quit.. BUT we texted him on Sunday and he text back! WHOOOAW!

This is Bill. Sister Jones and I (we were on exchanges with the sister trainer leaders) met him while walking to a members house. He is a very kind old man! Old men are the sweetest, kindest funniest ppl! he builds/use to build these air planes. Model airplanes? maybe thats how you say it... we invited him to church and he said "oh i just love the Hindu temples they are so nice"... ha ha ok.... nice answer. we will try again someday for sure!

His Airplanes.
#5 Our district leader gave us a country spiritual CD to listen to. Oh my... i can't tell you how good it feels to listen to country =) My favorite song is "what i love about Sunday" I've listened to it almost everyday this week. I also love "Jesus take the wheel"

#6 as sister Jones (exchanges) and I were walking someone was playing "don't take the girl" in their garage. I practically ran to the garage. no one was there so we walked away sllllooooowwwwwlllllyyyyyy, so i could listen to the song. hehe

#7 I slept ALLL night Tuesday night! It was so cool. It was such a blessing.

I bought this bracelet from an EXTREMELY less actives sister. She makes them to raise money for kids in hatti? is that how you spell it..... oh well. It is so cool! Its made out of magazine paper! you cut out a strip and then role it up! and that is how you make paper beads. so yea. Their is a couple in the next room and she is scratching her husbands back..... I am jealous... I MISS BACK SCRATCHES! ugh... seriously....... i haven't had one of those in FOREVER!

Ha ha funny story.. so we were walking and talking to literally EVERYONE we saw and we went to this house cause there was a guy in the drive way and we were like "hi how are you" he said "hi, said a few words" then he said "they are inside and got into his car ha ha so we took that as a referral and knocked on the door. They opened the door and I GASPED really loud and said "OH MY WORD"... the man who answered the door was wearing a mask ha ha. but they let us in and we taught them a short restoration and invited them to church and invited the man of the house to pray and he did. and his brothers were laughing at him.... it was sad he seemed really interested and sincere.. ps.. they didn't come to church or text me back.. i will go get them sometime this week though =)

WE GOT A WARD MISSION LEADER YESTERDAY!!! whoooaw! we haven't had one for 3 weeks. He is a convert (YES) and he has served as ward mission leader 3 times already so he knows what he is doing. THANK YOU! because I don't... he is really excited and enthusiastic!

Lastly... I LOVE the Yucca Mesa ward so much! I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the YSA branch oh my word... sometimes i wish i could hang out with them as a normal person and not as a missionary... but this fast Sunday testimony meeting was so amazing the spirit was SO strong! I hope our investigator recognized it! i don't think i have ever felt it that strong in a testimony meeting. I love these people so much! ah. they are so amazing. Our investigator also got fellowshipped amazingly that day! so much that they didn't go to class they talk the whole time during gospel principles but i was ok with it because we were talking about deep stuff.... I was even confused! That's not saying much.. but he would have been extremely confused if he would have attended sooooooooooooo ok i've gotta go! we are going to the sand dunes in 29 palms today to go sand boarding! i'm excited!

LOVE YOU ALL!

Love,

Sister Kersey Davis

ps... watch my favorite video in the whole world again please =) it makes me tear everytime!

http://www.lds.org/pages/moments

Serve others and smile more and I promise you, you will find the Savior. What matters most in this life? Not money, not winning games, not scoring points, not cute clothes, not good grades (c's get degrees!) what matters most should be our family the relationships we share and serving others. When we put others before ourselves that's when we find true happiness. Slow down. Look around. Who needs YOU? Go out of your way to do something for someone this week =) I will too.

"don't shine so that others can see you, shine so through you others can see him"

PS.. I hug EVERYONE now... it's weird... I'm a hugger!

Week 14

HEELLLOOO =) How was y'alls conference weekend!?!?!? Oh man.. those men and women who spoke are totally called of God! I was so excited to listen to conference! I ran to my car and ran to the church door that's how excited i was! My favorite quote from conference this week was from president Uchtdorf he said "doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith".  WOW. that's so powerful! to me at least.. maybe it isn't to any of you.. but i have always had all these petty dumb doubts, especially lately and that was just like BOOM. FAITH. God is our Heavenly Father, he has a plan for us and we need to trust it and follow his commandments. I have dumb doubts like "maybe i'm not really suposed to be out on a mission.. maybe the answer i received was all in my head" NO, shut up Satan! get thee Hence! Faith. I need to have faith. I have always had faith that God answers prayers. What I received that day was good and anything that is good is from God. Doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith. Sorry if that didn't make sense but it makes complete sense to me! anyway............

Hot Hula fitness for FHE and the sunrise singles branch! OH my word!!! HA HA IT WAS SOOO WEIRD DANCING and movinng my hips around as a missionary! It was SOO FUNNY though seeing the guys do hot hula fitness ha haha... The next day my hips were SOOOO sore!! fun. imma do hot hula fitness when i get home! it was a work out.

I love 2 Nephi 25:23 and Moroni 10:32 DO ALL YOU CAN DO. Love God with all our heart. That's when we are saved.

I need more of those weird squishy pink ear plugs!!! please =) for my birthday =) thanks

This is Logans leg.. he got in a motor cycle accident a few weeks ago.. gross!

I've been off of chap stick for about a month now! WOW! Now i need to work on not biting my lips................. =/

One of my other favorite quotes from conference was " Just like we don't grow physically stronger from watching a basketball game, we don't grow spiritually stronger by just watching conference" LOVE LOVE love love. Go out and do! Faith without works is dead.

This is Shadrack. The recent convert from Africa. We taught him about prophets this week. His story is so amazing. He came to America just a little less than a year ago and he was walking around trying to find a church "i've gotta find a church.. i need to learn and read the bible, I need to go to church" then he saw two missionaries in white shirts and talked to them! he pushed back his baptism a few times because he knew that this was a huge commitment. He grew up Jehovah's Whitness so he was scared about what his family was going to think. He knows that it is his duty to go on a mission and he has been praying and praying about a mission and he feels that it is not his time. He is really amazing. His culture is so different than the culture here... He just got his drivers license last week so he is really excited about that. He is really hard to teach because of the language barrier but we just try to teach him really simply.

Oh my word i also loved Elder Hollands talk! when he talked about mental disabilities and depression and he shared a personal experience! WHAT!! He was so meek and loving... usually when he speaks i am wide eyed and scared and feel like i am being yelled at! I was in tears. That was such an inspired talk. Mental disabilities are real and we all need to be sensitive to those who suffer. What a difficult trial to endure...... i can't imagine... But what a wonderful hope we have as members of Christs church, knowing that after this life we will all be resurrected and be made whole! Alma 11:34-44

This is sister Gonzales and eyes new missionary tag piercings =)

This week we had a great experience getting to know one of our neighbors! The weeds in front of the house were OUT OF CONTROL so this morning we decided we needed to do something about it. We got to work and our neighbor and her daughter were outside watching us. Her 5 year old daughter started helping us! I was so impressed and happy! THEN, her mom began to help us! We talked and laughed and talked.... She asked us what we do exactly as missionaries, we told her and asked her questions and get to know her a little better. She asked about our wards trunk-er-treat activity and we invited her! After we finished weeding we wrote her a thank you note (She saw me put the note on her door....=/ and saw me run back to our apartment, awkward...)  and put the information about trunk-er-treat on it. Hopefully this week we can talk to them about church! God truly does love all his children. As I got to know Ashley I began to see her as who she could become through the gospel of Jesus Christ. I want to help her and her family come unto Christ! I love the people here and I want them all to have the restored gospel in their life! Through the strength of the Lord I will continue to invite others to come unto Christ!

Me and sister Gardner after weeding!
Alright.. Love y'all! Imma go fly some kites!

Love,
Sister Kersey Davis
