Week 38

Hi this week has gone by pretty fast! I love walking! It is so fun talking to everyone and having awkward moments all the time. We just invite everyone! if they aren't interested then we invite them to visit mormon.org or invite them to our scripture study class or potlucks or whatever we feel like! it's awesome.

Last Monday i was information-ally converted! I have had a spiritual conversion.... but now i am also informationally converted! We watched the movie "praise to the man" wow... that is an awesome movie... i suggest watching it! I love Joseph Smith.

eek i'm being timed.. i only have 11 more minutes! ahhh ook

Emily is doing great! She gave her first Book of MOrmon to her grandma this week! Her grandma had comented on how happy her and Sara are she is interested in finding out why! I am so excited =) the Gospel is changing their whole families life!

There is SO MUCH anti mormonness in this town.. I am getting SO sick of it... 2 of the Elders in our wards investigators decided they didn't want to get baptized anymore because they wrerer exposed to Anti... ugh...

FACEBOOK WAS CREATED TO HASTEN THE LORDS WORK.  Are you using it in such a way? or are you just wasting your life away on it, like i did before my mission?  Qh 7 minutes!

I have recognized myself judging others. In Gospel principles class we learned about Christ mortal ministrey. He looked at all people with love. We need to look at all people with love too, don't see people for who they are now and for the mistakes they have made but who they can become. Look at them the way our heavenly Father would. I will practice what i preach this week and for the rest of my mission.

Wow sorry this was so rushed... i've gotta go though! maybe i will get the computer again.. we will see..

Love,

Sister Kersey DAvis

ps... D&C 121:34-46 how to be a good leader, AWESOME!

Week 37

Happy Green Day!!! I totally forgot about st. pattys day until we walked inot walmart and everyone is wearing green. What are we celebrating on this day anyway???

We had an amazing mission conference this week with the rancho Cucamonga mission. Elder Neil L Anderson (he is an apostle!!!) spoke to us, and we all got to shake his hand too! He had a lot of insightful and inspiring words AND he was also humorous! The spirit is always SO STRONG when we are all singing to the top of our lungs. When Elder Anderson was Bearing his testimony at the End, it was so powerful. I know that he truly is a special whitnes of Christ and that he is one of his living apostles today. I could feel it! The spirit testified to me that what he was saying was true.

This week Bruce passed the sacrament for the first time!!!! and he bore his testimony for the first time too!!! I was so proud. I felt like a proud mother ha ha. ew.

The sunsets here are AMAZING!!! Our Heavenly Father loves us so much look at all the beauty around you.

So... this week we found out that we are getting an allotment on our driving miles................... =/ crap....... sooo we are only allowed 1050 now.. uh... we only have 200 left so we have been walking EVERYWHERE!!! last night we walked from one end of the town to the other! i got blisters and my shoes are absolutely DISCUSTING. If i contract a disease I'm going to........ be sad. BUT i love walking and talking to everyone! i would much rather walk then drive. EXCEPT.. it's really awkward when it's windy and our skirts are flying EVERYWHERE. thank you bloomers.

My shoes are so gross. They stink incredibly bad... is this too much info? sorry if it is i still don't recognize what is socially appropriate and what isn't...

We had a lesson with the Vazquez family last MOnday and it was probably the most amazing spiritualness ever!!! we talked about how they could be married together for time and all eternity... you could totally tell he was feeling the spirit because he got all ansi and he said that he got the chills when we said that. We invited Roberto to pray at the end of the lesson. . he was hesitant... then we werwe like.. ok we will say one as an example.. after a few minutes he finally did, we told him to just talk to God and say what is in you heart. He did and the spirit filled the room. After he prayed we sat there and asked him how he felt, he said that it was like it was just him and God talking and that he felt the spirit. He said "I've never prayed like that before". WHOOOAW it was amazing. I hope he never forgets that. I sure wont. I love that family so much, i want them to have the gospel so bad that it hurts!!!! They didn't come to church yesterday so we are going to go kick their butts tonight, jk.

Got highlights in my hair this morning! That was a new experience.

I love  you all thank you for all the support! if you want to write me....

Week 36

Hello strangers! This week has been pretty good, I think... I forget a lot of what happens..... all I remember are the things I write down to tell ya’ll. BUT I do remember that this is the Lords work and he truly is hastening it! There are people out here and wherever you are who are ready to receive the Gospel. My testimony is growing each day and I am learning so much! Even though trials come and stuff happens that sister Rogers and I can't control or help I know that God will comfort me IF I ask. IT ALL STARTS WITH PRAYER.

BEAUTIFUL Yucca Valley! I get to see amazing sun rises and sunsets every night and morning!

One miracle/funny that happened this week was... we were trying to track down this less active recent convert. She lives in this trailer park right off of twenty nine palms hwy (hmm.. you didn't need to know that) .... we decide to park kind of far away and walk to her apartment... on the way there a young man is walking, we are counseled to talk to EVERYONE sooooooo that is what came to mind "talk to him" BUT... he is young and pretty handsome so I get nervous ha ha (that always happens with young men...) BUT I decide to be a good example to sister Rogers so I start talking to him and we start talking about the church then he says "You know what how about I just invite you in" and starts walking towards his trailer (the trailer is BOOMING with loud music...) we get closer and I say, awkwardly... "umm... is there a female in the house?" he just walks..... in and I peek my head in and there is Jazmine! the less active we have been trying to track down!!!! And we are just like OH, awesome, we can come in. And we talk to Jazmine and the music is SOOO LOUD! ha ha ha ah oh my word It was ridiculous.. and it was Eminem so it was pretty vial too.... we ask Philip if he would meet with the boy missionaries and if he would be interested in learning more and he said yes!! Janzmine came to the YM/YW activity on Wednesday and got a priesthood blessing! I know that God blessed us for being obedient to the "talk to everyone" rule =) I was so happy!

We had a lesson this week with Steve and we invited President Van Cott (mission pres) to come with us. At first I was way nervous for him to be there... BUT as it got closer I got more excited. He was so awesome and down to earth, Steve and President Van Cott got along perfectly! We had planned to teach him about the joy that comes from repentance and we wanted to give him a vision of what his life will be like when he joins the church and partakes of all these blessings! We actually didn't do a lot of talking ha ha President kind of took over but he totally gave Steve a vision of what his life could be years from now. It was amazing and the spirit was so strong. I am so grateful for the wonderful leaders of this church and for the opportunity we, imperfect people have to change each day.

Betty Kerr taught relief society yesterday! This is the activity she had us do. We had paper pinned to our backs and wrote nice things about each other. She is soooo well! I was so proud of her =) I can't wait to go to the temple with her in November. I love her so much!

Melinda texted us a few mornings ago and said that she woke up with a date!!!! =D I have been working with Melinda for almost 5 months now! She will be baptized on April 12th =) she really wants to get to the temple. She is the one that went to the Gilbert temple open house thing. She LOVED the celestial room and wants to get back there and feel that same feeling that she had. I love temples and I love Melinda! She came to Kaydens (8 yr old in the ward) baptism and she learned a lot! Invite all your non-member friends to all the baptisms! They will feel the spirit! This is the 3rd baptism she had been too and she said that "the 3rd time is a charm" =)

we were walking down this pretty rough area/apartment complexes where people are always out smoking, drinking, starring, reading talking on the phone... anyway we stop to talked to this lady and to the right of us were 3 young guys rapping up a storm... in my mind I thought "you need to go talk to them" I immediately thought NO way.. Then after we got done talking to the lady I all the sudden was scared anymore! I just decided to be myself... we walk up to them and I tell them that I wish I could rap! Then they invite us to rap with them... sister Rogers does poetry so I tell them she could do it and she got so nervous ha ha ha whoops I think I scare my comps all the time. Then we start talking about the church and invite them to come and what not.... I don't know if anything will ever come out of it BUT hey maybe they have a different take on Mormons =)

I wish I could rap....

DING DING DING!!! Car in the food for less parking lot. Do they have food for lesses in Utah..? I forgot.

Pray for opportunities to do missionary work, pray that God will put people in your path. Be specific and he will be specific! Look at others the way Christ does. Look at EVERYONE as a son and daughter of God. I promise you that if you really do want to help someone receive the gospel God will answer your prayers. He will bring names to mind and faces. Don’t ignore the promptings you receive. maybe they won't except it in this life... just imagine going to the spirit world and having one of your friends you introduced to the gospel on earth run up to you and thank you for sharing the gospel with them. Because of YOU they were able to recognize the true gospel in the spirit world. You also might just change their life down here on earth too =) Missionary work has brought me so much happiness; I know you can all feel it too!

Read, go to church and never forget to PRAY!

Love,

Sister Kersey Davis

Week 35

Transfers were today and guess what!?!? I'm staying in YUCCA again! =D by the end of this transfer I will have spent half my mission in Yucca Valley!!!! I'm so grateful and feel so blessed =) But I'm pretty sure next transfer I will be shipped out. This week it RAINED!!!! it was CRAZY. I have never seen such heavy rain in my life! it was amazing. Our jeep is soooooooooo dirty! my feet were soaking wet. it was soooooooooo fuN!

Went on splits (FINALLY) with sister Mucke this week! It was so fun! I learned a lot from her and it was really nice to have someone who has the same sense of humor as me =)

We met with Emily and she was FULL OF LIGHT! It was so amazing to see how much happiness the gospel has given her! It strengthened my testimony to see he so happy and to see the change in her. This gospel brings true happiness and no one can ever show me or tell me anything that will shake my testimony of that. This is a point where my testimony has really grown this week. This gospel is a gospel of HAPPINESS! Without the gospel I would be so lost and I would be doing things that would give me temporal happiness... There are people out there who don't know that this true happiness and joy exist! We need to happily share the gospel with EVERYONE! No... not in a weird way... just invite people! do it naturally.

Me and Stephenie Davis my favorite 7 year old =D

Can I just say this world is becoming SOOO WICKED.....!! ick... we were at sizzlers for dinner a few days ago and there was a big screen tv and the commercials that I saw totally discussed me! ah... I don't want to come back into the worldly world! Don't watch tv... get net fliks or somethin

Sister Rogers and I on a rainy day. YES, it did rain here in Yucca Valley. IT WAS CRAZY! floods erry where. It was like I was driving in an ocean! ok that is a little exaggerated.

We had a missionary activity with all the laurels and priest this past Saturday, and it was AMAZING! Coalville stake you should do this! we had all the missionaries in the zone and all the laurels and priest and we did 3 little training's and how to be missionaries and then we went out from 10 to 12. We had set appointments with members who acted like investigators and we taught the restoration and followed the spirit of course. some ppl even had the opportunity to teach real investigators. it was so much fun to be around these young people and to see their testimonies grow! there were so many that were on the fence about missions and now they know for SURE they want to go! I love working with the youth =) This week we have an activity with the youth in our ward. We had them all invite their non member friends and we are going to play games, eat pizza and watch Mormon messages! I'm so surprised at the response of these young ppl! Almost all of them committed to inviting a friend and all of them have a friend coming!!!! =D
sorry I just got a little excited and went off....

I love this gospel and I don't even want to imagine what it would be like to not have it in my life. My life would be a wreck. . I love my savior and I can't wait to see him again.

This is the Bankhead Family! The parents are members. The two girls are not baptized yet. BUT. GUESS WHAT!!! THEY CAME TO CHURCH THIS WEEK!!! AH! I was so happy! first time in the 8ish months I have been here!!!
PS.... how do you like my shirt kenzy and Jake??? ha ha I bet you both hate it. It's old grama style all the way. I got like 6 compliment from all the 80+ year olds in our ward! xD ha ha! One of our investigators gave it to me.

This video is soooooooo powerful! It makes me appreciate so much what Jesus Christ did for ME. He suffered SO much.... for ME! and YOU! I am so grateful for this knowledge and testimony that I have, that I know that my redeemer lives and that he loves us. I know that because he suffered, died and rose again I will have the strength to endure through pain, I will live again and receive a resurrected perfected body. This gives me so much hope and peace.

I love you all! remember to read the scriptures (the BOM is AMAZING!!) and pray to our Father in Heaven

Love,

Sister kersey Davis
