Week 30

Hi all =D My new companions name is Sister Rogers, she is 20 years old and from Sandy, Utah (of course....) she is TINY and people thinks she is my child ha ha. Training is always an adventure and every person is different (obviously..) and the first few days I was freaking out (in my mind) so I asked the Elders for a priesthood blessing after out church tour and I received so much comfort. I know that the priesthood has been restored and that it's God authority to help move forward the salvation of man! (and woman). I am so grateful that i grew up surrounded by the priesthood of God!
This is a RAD rocky thing made out of trampoline! I am going to have my future husband make me one =)

So one of the MANY reasons i was so happy that i stayed in Yucca Valley was because we have been planning a potluck/church tour for the past 6 weeks and it finally went down on Friday! around 50 people showed up! we had 4 non members there and 2 less actives who i was SOOO HAPPY to see there. Betty is amazing and invited two of her non member friends to come. We are now going to start teaching them =) SEE that's all you've gotta do! invite your non member friends and the missionaries will take care of the rest! invite, invite, INVITE! Anyway.. we ate food and watched the 20 minute version of the Joseph smith prophet of the restoration. Then we did the church tour, it was fun! there were definitely some disappointments... people that said they would come but didn't... it's ok though! everyone has their AGENCY!

Keep Betty in your prayers her Father passed away this week. It broke my heart. I love her so much, my heart hurts for her..... I feel so bad for her. Horrible things are happening, but she never fails to amaze me. She is so positive. She came to the pot luck and even invited her two friends who are struggling. She came to church and participated in every class! she has her moments of weakness but quickly recovers. I want to be like her someday. I know that she will see her dad again. I know that he will accept the gospel in the spirit world, he was the kindest 95 year old i have ever met and he was a righteous, sincere follower of God.
WE did a service project and cleaned up a members back yard. She is a legit hoarder... like for real.... it was the messiest back yard i have EVERY seen... the most ridiculous things were back there like; ice cream machine, juk box, flinstones car, broken weight lifting machine, punching bag, army tent, hay bells a rotten mattress and a cute dog named rock!

We had a lesson half in Spanish and half in English....... it was pretty crazy.... while Brother Pinela spoke spoke Spanish forever i taught their 13 year old daughter about temples and how you can be married to your best friend for ever! not just for time. She thought it was pretty cool ha ha. They are such and awesome family! they didn't show up to church though... which made me sad and they cancelled their appointment because of sickness... they are so fun and totally Mormons at heart!

We taught the people who have a dog named Dallas and it went well! They said we could come back! =D We are going to try to get Kym to come to the singles branch.

Well that's what has been going on this week! we have been really busy! lots of people to teach. I love this gospel more than anything, it's the only stable thing i have in my life. I know that as i continue to serve others and be obedient to Gods commandments this area and my family and my future family will be blessed. Remember to read the scriptures and say your prayers!

Love,

Sister Kersey Davis

Week 29

I'm staying in YUCCA VALLEY!!!! I can't believe I've been here for 6 months and I am going to be here for at least 6 more weeks! YAHOOOO I love YUCCA! I will be training a new missionary.......... I will let y'all know her name next week! I will be picking her up on Wednesday.

Me and my new best friend Shadrack!

First off... have you all seen "the testaments: one fold and one shepherd" ? um.. AMAZING MOVIE!!!!! watch it. I cried.

This week has been pretty amazing! we are now teaching Brother Perez's daughter and her husband. He was baptized 3 years ago and has been working on them since! I feel so blessed to be teaching them. They are both so ready and they are so excited to be a family forever! They have two twin 5 year old girls. Brother Perez is our ward mission leader and he is on fire! I am very blessed to be working with him.
this is sister Martin and Steve one of our new investigators! He prayed for the first time in a long time a few days ago!

(the elders are tickling each other right now... it's hard to concentrate on emails...)

we also met 2 Spanish families this week that want to learn more! I am really excited to teach them! the dad actually kissed us on the cheek which was extremely awkward.. ah ha I know its their culture... but I'm an awkward missionary! I am so excited to finally teach families!

Bruce is preparing to receive the priesthood!

Me and the amazing Vikdal family! and their cool chameleon

I MET A BOXER DOG NAMED DALLAS!!!! we started conversation with his owner and we are going over there on Friday to teach them!

Funny things said by my Friend and investigator Emily: "I don't want to go! I don't want to feel the spirit!"  "I am Jesus Christ and I approve this message" ha ha ha she is so funny I love her. She is going get baptized and go on a mission someday!

an awkward photo of us and brother Lee and his son Bailey

I love being a missionary! yes... I miss the worldly life and some of the worldly things I loved like Facebook, pinterest, TV shows and... I can't think of anything else.. but I love the people here! I love the gospel and I am soooo blessed to have it in my life. God need all of our help to share the happiness and blessings with those who don't have it! "we are as the army of Helamen we have been taught in our youth!" share it with others. God needs your help.

You can change someones life with 6 words! Paint a missionary badge on your heart!

I love you all!

Month 7 (28 Weeks)

Tall ladies! whahoo! This is my friend and investigator Emily (left) she is 17 and he sister Sara who got baptized about 9 months ago. She is 21 and is getting ready to go to boot camp to be a Marine! they are so funny I love them so much! Emily is a really good swimmer! she is looking to swim in college

ok.. I accidentally deleted my long email again... AHHH! what is wrong with me! ticked... Anyway.

Hello all! I'm still in Yucca Valley, can you believe I've been here for 6 months!? not for long... transfers are next week and I'm sure I will be shipped out and I will cry my eyes out! Everyday I have a moment where I think " am I really a missionary? wow.. I can't believe it!?" I am so blessed to be serving my Brothers and Sisters of California. Being a missionary is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, but I still find myself thanking my Heavenly Father Every night for the opportunity to serve. I am truly grateful for the opportunity God has given me to grow and help others. Everyone GO ON A MISSION!

This week has been AWESOME! Our zone and our companionship had reached out record of lessons and finding investigators! numbers don't really matter but it helps us continue to work hard! We receive a referral from a man named Bob this week. We call him Bob tractor (because he has a lot of tractors..) he isn't a member and isn't interested but he gave us 2 referrals after we talked to him a few days ago! one being Donna. She is 94 years old and the happiest person I know! she also just got her license renewed for 5 years! WHAT!? So now she is a new investigator. Yahoo! She is adorable. She gave us 2 grama skirts ha ha

One of my outfits =) if any of ya’ll wonder what I wear...

Funnies/randoms

We ate at a Spanish families house last week and they had HOT pepper seeds/corn things.. Carne Assada we decided to play dare and eat them plain... Everyone did it except me... I was scared! I have a sensitive tongue! Finally I fell into peer pressure and I did it and my mouth went numb and I almost started crying and I couldn't stop eating ice cream. But it was funny watching everyone eat them!

Ok.. so a member gave me permission to text his girlfriend EVERYDAY to ask her if we can come visit her and teach her. so I did it! everday this week.. I felt SOOO annoying...she never texted us back.. I figured we would never really meet her... THEN we got a call from sister davis and she says " yea so we have dinner with you guys sunday and we invited Riky (that's her name)" HA HA HA  oh my gosh.. so we met her last night and I felt so embarrassed.... but she said we could come over somtime! so it turned out good! I plan on apologizing for being annoying the next time we see her...

We yell "I FEAR NO MAN" everyday before we walk out of the door.

I look extreme sister missionary in this picture.. NOT a fan haha. BUT this is Dillon and Jovina they are in the Sunrise singles branch and I LOVE them. Dillon was baptized 2 years ago and he is AWESOME! he is working towards going on a mission and just got kicked out of his house.. pretty much because he is Mormon.. he is so strong! The young people here amaze me!

Chelsey: I don't know if you still watch the bachelor... but we were in big o tires this week (because out jeep is falling apart) and tv was on and they were talking about the bachelor and how a girl really embarrassed herself. She thought he called her name and started coming down but he didn't really say her name so yea.. ok that was pointless.

I found a part of the bible dictionary definition of pray that I really liked: The object of prayer is not to change the will of God, but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant, but that are made conditional on our asking for them.

This past week I have been trying to pray more sincerely and from the heart. The prayers are much longer and take a lot more effort but I know that I feel a lot better and more inspired when I pray with all my heart!

My new RAD RING!! It is Garnett and I am very obsessed with it. Brother and Sister Richards gave it to me =) they pon jewelry and antique stuff. They are so cool and make me laugh all the time! I love them and will miss them so much when I leave this area =(

We had lots of investigators at church this week! 5 total between us and the elders. We also had a inactive show up that we did NOT think would be coming to church anytime soon! It makes me so happy to see the pews full and to see unfamiliar faces! leaving is going to be hard...

we spoke in the singles branch this week. it was fun! I love speaking to young people! I love my friends in the YSA branch. It sunday school class we learned about the pre existence we read this story... it's amazing!

The following event took place in a ward in Salt Lake City in 1974. It occurred during a sacrament meeting and was told to me by a Regional Representative of the Twelve who was in the meeting. A young man, just before leaving on his mission stood in sacrament meeting and bore in essence the following testimony:
Brothers and Sisters, as you know, the past two weeks I've been waiting for my mission call. During the time I was waiting I had a dream. I knew it was not an ordinary dream. I dreamed I was in the pre-existence and awaiting my call to come to earth. I was filled with the same anticipation and excitement that I had before I received my mission call. In my dream I was talking to a friend, and I felt a special closeness to him, even though I've never met him in this life. As we talked a messenger came and gave me a letter. I knew it was my call to go to earth. In great excitement my friend and I opened the letter. I gave it to him and asked him to read it aloud. It said: "You've been called to earth in a special time and to a special land. You will be born to the true church and you will have the priesthood of God in your home. You will born into a land of plenty, in a land of freedom. You will go to earth in the United States of America."
My friend and I rejoiced as we read my call, and while we were rejoicing the messenger returned. This time he had a letter for my friend. We knew it was his call to earth. My friend gave me the letter to read aloud. His letter said: "You've been called to go to the earth in circumstances of poverty and strife. You will not be raised in the true church. Many hardships will attend your life. Your land will be fraught with political and social difficulties - which will hinder the work of the Lord. You will be born in Costa Rica."
We wept, my friend and I, as we read his call. And my friend looked at me with tears in his eyes, and said, "When we are down on earth, you in your choice land and me in Costa Rica, my friend, please come and find me."
The this young missionary, with tears in his eyes, said, "Brothers and Sisters, I have received my mission call. I am going to Costa Rica."
There is a sequel to the story. About a year after the sacrament meeting, the bishop received a letter from the missionary in Costa Rica. The letter had one sheet of paper in it and on that sheet written in capital letters were four words:

I FOUND MY FRIEND

We are all foreordained to do something, weather that be serving a mission, raising a family, sharing the gospel with a friend I hope we are all living in a way that we can fulfill those things.

I love you all! gotta go!

Love,
Sister Kersey Davis

Week 27

Hello people back home!

I don't have much time. Ok.. yes I do... but I don't feel like writing a novel today...

That is Brother Perez our ward mission leader. HE IS AWESOME! He always gets me so pumped about missionary work! I am going to miss him a lot.

Look how buff my arm looks! Ha ha! This is Bruce, we have been teaching him for about 3 months! NEVER thought I would see him baptized =) I've seen SUCH a big change in him. He pretty much gave a talk at his baptism! I'm so happy for him =) and I feel so blessed to have taught him. I learned ALOT of patience ha.......

We had a lesson by the Elders apartment and they covered our car with pass along cars, taped candy, a lamp... and creepy dolls. ha ha ha weirdos...

Sister Gardner and I went on a hike with Melinda (investigator) today at Joshua Tree National park! it was BEAUTIFUL! imma come back someday and sleep on these rocks!

This week was pretty rough... I got sick on new years eve. BUT my sickness has only taken away 45 minutes from missionary work! I only came home once to sleep for 45 mins. I kinda wish I took a little more time to get fully recovered... but....

Sitting in between rocks!

So this week we were teaching Bruce about..........I don't remember. BUT we were talking about cussing and I was TOTALLY preaching to myself as I was teaching him! those of you who knew me before my mission knew that I had a very bad mouth.... I never really cussed ha ha but... I might as well have! I just had horrible language... ANYWAY I was saying to Bruce " Your not going to recognize the missed blessing that come from cussing, it's not a major sin BUT when you have bad language the spirit can't be with you" while I was talking I was like "WHHHOOOOAAAH, I'm totally preaching to myself right now"

Melinda me and s. Gardner

I LOVE the singles branch! testimony meeting this week in the home ward was good.. I felt the spirit.. BUT in the singles branch it was SOO STRONG!!! They are so powerful! I don't know what it is about young ppls testimonies... We had a potential investigator there and he said that he really liked it!
